Why We Exist

The Purpose

The Short Version

A can with a job to do.

Field Rations Co. started with two guys in Texas who wanted gear that actually matched how they live — outside, working, dipping, and proud of where they're from. No focus groups. No committee-approved slogans. Just a machined aluminum can with the flag cut into it, built well enough to hand down.

But a flag on a product is easy. Anybody with a laser engraver can do patriotism as decoration. We wanted the flag on our gear to cost us something — so from day one, before we sold a single can, we committed 10% of our net profit to the fight against human trafficking.

Not because it's good marketing. Because if you're going to put "freedom" on the label, you should be funding some.

The Exodus Road

An anti-trafficking organization that doesn't just raise awareness — it works alongside law enforcement on real investigations, real raids, and real arrests. Founded in 2012 by Matt and Laura Parker after two years of on-the-ground undercover work with local police in Southeast Asia, headquartered in Colorado Springs, and operating through regional hubs in the United States, Thailand, India, Colombia, and Brazil — with cases supported in 25 countries.

6,363
People Freed
1,971
Traffickers Arrested
2,783
Survivors Given Aftercare
65,428
Officers & Citizens Trained

All-time figures reported by The Exodus Road. In 2025 alone: 679 survivors freed, 262 arrests, and 8,120 people trained across 89 criminal cases.

How Their Model Works

Find. Free. Rebuild.

Trafficking doesn't get solved by hashtags. The Exodus Road runs a three-part operation, and money from every Field Rations can flows into all of it.

01 / Intervention

The sharp end. Their teams train local investigators, identify victims, build prosecutable cases, and support law enforcement during operations — the raids where people actually walk out free and traffickers actually leave in cuffs. Over a decade of casework across 25 countries.

02 / Prevention

Their TraffickWatch Academy trains police officers, students, and communities to recognize trafficking before it happens. More than 65,000 officers and citizens trained to date — every one of them a set of eyes traffickers now have to get past.

03 / Aftercare

Freedom on paper isn't freedom. Crisis care workers and social workers ride with intervention teams, then walk with survivors through trauma-informed recovery — nearly 2,800 survivors supported so far.

Why we picked them — and who we passed on

We didn't grab the first anti-trafficking logo we could find. We vetted this space hard, and some big names didn't make the cut. The Exodus Road did — for reasons that matter if you're the one buying the can:

They're accountable. Four-star rated on Charity Navigator, Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid, financials published every year, independently audited. You can go read the books yourself — link below.

They do the work, not just the content. Their numbers are case files, not impressions. Survivors freed, arrests made, officers trained. That's the whole scoreboard.

They partner instead of grandstand. Everything runs through local law enforcement and local staff, because lasting change in a community comes from the people who live there. No cowboy operations, no rescue theater.

This is a real partnership, not a checkbox. As Field Rations grows, so does what we can send their way — and we'll publish what we give.

The Field Rations Pledge

10% of net profit. Every order. No cap.

Every can that leaves our shelf sends 10% of the net profit directly to The Exodus Road's operational work. It's baked into our unit economics from can one — not a "portion of proceeds" asterisk, not a limited-time campaign.

Buy a can, and part of it funds an investigator's casework, an officer's training, or a survivor's first steps out. That's the deal. That's why the flag is on the lid.

The Other Half Of The Purpose

Gear worth handing down.

The second promise is simpler: we only make things built to outlast the guy who bought them. Machined metal, deep engraving, no plastic junk with a flag sticker on it. The depot grows from there — but the standard never moves.
